328 Compact Excavator

328, longer reach in a compact package

  • Long dipperstickk – longer reach – increased dump height
  • Compactness – transportability (trailer)
  • Excellent operator comfort
  • Safety – joystick and travel functions lockout – controls lockout indicators
  • Impressive hydraulic performance

The 328 is a small excavators in the 2-3 T class.

Developed as a light weight machine the 328 can easily be transported on a trailer towed by a small truck, van or even a passenger car.

Add a longer dipperstick to the 325 and you enjoy the benefits of the longer reach and increased dump height of the 328. This long-arm excavator does not have to be repositioned as often to work faster on shallow excavating jobs and for loading trucks.

With an outstanding balance between size, weight and performance, this model is a perfect choice for utility and rental companies working in tight spaces.

Performances are improved thanks to the boom offset up to 90 degrees for optimum visibility on the bucket, fingertip control of auxiliary hydraulic functions, enhanced boom and frame mounted lights.

This model features a robust tailgate for unmatched engine serviceability and optimum protection of the components in the engine compartment. The right access cover offers quick access to all service points. Greasing points of the swing pinion, swing bearing, and offset cylinder are now in a centralized location to facilitate servicing of these areas.

The operator comfort is improved thanks to the two piece folding control pedals, the cup holder and the two speed switch on blade lever.

The instrumentation package, the electronics and automatic shutdown system, the replaceable weld-on cutting edge and the improved working equipment (stronger kingpost) make the 328 even more reliable.

This small excavator is compatible with many attachments.

Durability

The entire upper structure is made of 6,35 mm steel for superior strength in all applications.
Boom offset on the left up to 90° for optimal visibility on the bucket, making trenching alongside walls easier.

Reliability

Instrumentation, electronics and automatic shutdown
A new instrumentation package is located to the operator’s right. Instrumentation includes sweep gauges for engine temperature and fuel level.

Operator comfort

Two piece control pedals
Travel, and boom offset functions are controlled using two-piece folding pedals. When these functions are not needed, the rear portion of the pedals can be folded forward and locked stationary. This allows the operator to use them as a footrest. This also results in more open floor area for foot placement.
The angle of the pedals has also been improved for more comfortable operation. Pedal activation is a fore and aft motion with improved control over the side to side motion previously used.

Serviceability

Swing open tailgate
The machine features a robust side swing tailgate for unmatched engine serviceability and optimal protection of the components in the engine compartment. The tailgate is made of die formed 6,35 mm steel eliminating the need for cast counterweights found on competitive excavators and the bolt-on tailgate uprights used on previous 328s. The tailgate latch is hidden and opens with a lever located in the operator area.

Auxiliary function control

The auxiliary function is located on the right hand joystick and provides fingertip control of auxiliary hydraulic functions. These excavators offer a modulated auxiliary system on the joystick.
This system also features the ability to have detent flow (activated by the front trigger switch) in both directions.

Right access cover

The fuel fill, the battery, the manifold, the hydraulic filters, the control valve and associated plumbing are located on the right side of the machine. A tip forward access cover that locks open in two positions offers quick access to these items. The first position is for daily routine maintenance like fuel filling. By removing a stop, the access cover can be opened further for even better access to the hydraulic components.

Centralized greasing

Grease zerks for the swing pinion, swing bearing, and offset cylinder are now in a centralized location on the right front corner of the machine, away from the traffic side. This greatly facilitates servicing of these areas.

Safety

Raising the left console will lockout the joystick and travel functions. A light on the right console indicates when the hydraulic functions are free.
