444, the big bruiser in a compact package
- Short tail swing – increased efficiency and cycle-times
- Oversized undercarriage for more stability
- Diversity of working equipment – monobloc boom or two-piece articulated boom
- Boom offset – versatility – reach – visibility
The 444 is a midi excavator in the 7.5-12.5 T class.
This 12.5 T midi excavator combines features characteristic of mini excavators, such as rubber tracks, boom offset and compact design, with features of large excavators to provide unmatched flexibility and performance.
Thanks to its compact design, this machine is ideal for working in close quarters.
The 444 is available with monobloc or articulated boom. The latter enables the machine to operate in an even more compact way than the monobloc version.
State-of-the-art joystick controls, load sensing and superior breakout forces allow the 444 to handle a variety of applications from trenching to landscaping and site preparation.

Performance
Short Tail Swing design
The rear overhang of the 444 over the track width is only 12 cm, smallest by far in its class.
• No risk of damages to the site
• No risk of damages to the machine
• Higher productivity
• Less trafic disruption
Boom offset
The 444 has adopted the same design as a mini-excavator, proposing a boom offset of 56° left and 65° right. This results in higher versatility of the excavator. It avoids also unnecessary repositioning and proposes also a better reach and frees the right-hand side visibility of the operator.
• Improved versatility
• Less repositioning
• Better reach
• Improved safety
Articulated boom
Powerful workgroup
The 444 proposes a very good dump height (5240 mm) making it the ideal machine for loading trucks.
The 444 has high bucket (8150 daN) and dipperstick (6100 daN) break-out force.
The 444 develops also high pushing force (8200 daN) for easy levelling and outstanding all-terrain capabilities.
Operator Cabine
Like other Bobcat compact excavators, the cabin is roomy and offers optimal all-around visibility.
• The cabin is well equipped with all steering functions.
• The cabin is equipped in the front with an additional deflector to avoid any ingress of water inside of the cabin even under worst weather conditions.
• The cabin is mounted on 4 rubber mounts, and is completely isolated from the upper structure reducing the vibrations and noise level to a minimum.
• The front window can be very easily opened, through the assistance of gas cylinders, and maintained open through a double locking device above the head of the operator.
• The operator seat has several adjustments: weight, height, for/aft and backrest angle adjustment. The seat is also standard equipped with a retractable safety belt.
• On the right hand side of the seat there is a big store box.
• The armrests are integrated with the consoles and adjustable.
• The activation of the second travel speed occurs via an electrical switch in the instrumentation. The instrumentation is optimally placed on the right of the operator for ease of operation.
• The 444 disposes of steering pedals and levers, easy to operate, for a precise manoeuvring.
• The 444 has an additional function on the left joystick which allows to lock the cab slew via an electrical switch, for easy operation on slopes.
• The right hand side front window is a slide window with an efficient hold open device.
• The backfill blade is activated via a lever.
Safety
The Bobcat 444 proposes total security in all aspects. With the left console raised, the machine is set in security, all hydraulic functions are locked, working equipment & travel.
Total safety
The machine is standard equipped with a safety (anti-drop) valve on the boom and blade cylinders. According to the EC directive 98/37 an excavator capable of lifting one thousand kg or more and engaged in lifting applications requires the installation of a boom safety valve kit.
The standard equipment also includes a load moment device to alert visually and acoustically the stability limit of the machine. This load moment device can be deactivated through the switch in the instrumentation.
• Standard equipped for craning and lifting
• As an option, a safety valve kit for the dipperstick is also available.
• The machine is equipped with a battery main switch.
• As an option the 444 can also be equipped with a keyless ignition, very popular in rental application.
• Anti-theft device
Undercarriage
The 444 has an over dimensioned undercarriage which provides outstanding length and side stability, and this independently of application and job-site.
The construction of the under-carriage allows a good repartition of the forces for a higher reliability.
• Higher reliability
The undercarriage is alternating inner and outer flanged rollers reducing the track wear.
The undercarriage disposes of 7 bottom rollers providing better stability and a better weight distribution improving the service life of the tracks.
The rollers have a lifetime lubrication and sealing and are maintenance free.
• Maintenance free
• Longer service life
The travel motors and hydraulic lines are integrated into the frame for a total protection.
The tension adjustment of the track is easy to perform through a grease cylinder easy accessible.
• Total protection
• Easy to perform
The 444 is equipped with a long undercarriage (2628 mm) providing great stability and contributing to a good lift chart.
• Improved stability
• Good lifting ability
Dozer Blade
• The dozer blade, which is part of the standard equipment, is made of a very robust construction and offers an outstanding stability and contributes to improve lift chart.
• It is very helpful for backfilling, dozing and levelling operation.
• It is activated via 2 strong cylinders with protection above, against debris. The activation of the blade is totally independent of the transmission for optimal precision.
• The dozer blade has an optional float position to make levelling easier.
• Stability
• Strength
• Precision
• Ease of levelling
Width of the blade 2500 mm
Height of the blade 480 mm
Max lift above ground 500 mm
Max drop below ground 400 mm
The 444 has 3 different types of crawlers:
• Standard equipment is rubber tracks (500 mm).
• Steel tracks are optional in 2 widths: 500 mm and 800 mm.
Maintenance
• An outstanding access to the service points is granted through 2 easy flip-up hoods.
• The slew components are easy accessible through the flip forward cabin.
• The engine oil and engine oil filter intervals are of 500 hours.
• The diesel filter and pre-filter need to be changed every 500 hours.
• The check or change interval for the hydraulic oil is every 1000 hours.
• The oil of the travel motors needs to be checked or changed every 1000 hours.
• The battery is maintenance free.
