E80 Compact Excavator

E80, smooth power in a compact package

  • Zero Tail Swing (ZTS) design
  • Yanmar engine for durability and power with electronic injection
  • Opearator comfort
  • Unparalleled reliability
  • Smoother workgroup control and excellent hydraulic performance

The E80 is a Zero Tail Swing (ZTS) crawler excavator in the 7.5-12.5 T class.

This 8 T crawler excavator features steel tracks, an air conditioned cab and boom safety valves as standard equipment.

The reliability of this model has an important influence on its overall lifetime operating cost. The shape of the boom and dipperstick  have been optimized by finite element design to limit fatigue and thus improve durability and reliability. The X-chassis frame section also has been designed to ensure greater durability and optimum structural integrity. Thanks to the zero tail swing design, the entire house of the excavator rotates extremely close to the width of the tracks. This design allows the operator to concentrate fully on the job for peace of mind.

A large side cover allows easy access for daily maintenance and service for maximum work efficiency. The grease intervals for the workgroup pins are 250 hours thanks to the use of sintered metals. The cab can be tilted in a few minutes without special tools to gain access to the main valve when service is required. The E80 offers top performance in the toughest applications thanks to powerful breakout force and a high tech closed centre hydraulic system. The hydraulic system enables smooth operation while maintaining high productivity. This machine delivers higher traction and swing power.

The E80 is powered by the 40.7 kW Yanmar engine known for its durability and power. This results in excellent operation in high load conditions. This electronically controlled engine optimizes fuel efficiency and reduces emissions and noise to a minimum level. The auto idle control reduces engine speed to low idle after a few seconds if none of the excavator controls are operated. As soon as the operator activates any control, the engine speed immediately returns to the throttle level it had previously. This system helps to save fuel.

The use of an oversized cab means increased operator comfort, allowing work for longer periods of time with less fatigue. The high flow and low noise air conditioning system is included as standard. The electric refuelling pump makes it possible to fill the fuel tank with minimum effort.
The safety valve located in the boom prevents the boom from dropping in the event of a boom cylinder pipe rupture. An overload warning device is also included as standard. This will alert the operator if the work group is overloaded.

In addition to the buckets, breakers , demolition grabs and augers are also available with pin-on, Klac and Lehnhoff coupling systems.

Reliability

The reliability of a machine has an important influence on its overall lifetime operating cost. Bobcat uses computer assisted design techniques, highly durable materials and structures which are tested under extreme conditions.
The shape of the boom and dipper arm have been optimized by finite element design to limit fatigue and thus improve durability and reliability.
The X-chassis frame section also has been designed using 3 dimensional computer simulation to ensure greater durability and optimum structural integrity.
All this, together with rigorous quality testing in the production line, makes it possible for us to offer a world class excavator allowing you to focus on the work and forget about breakdowns.

Zero Tail Swing design
Thanks to zero tail swing design, the entire house of the excavator, with the exception of the boom, rotates extremely close to the width of the excavator tracks. This design allows the operator to concentrate fully on the job rather than worry whether the tail can rotate safely with almost no risk of damage to the machine or the surrounding environment. In a word, zero tail swing = peace of mind all the time.
Easy access for daily service and long grease intervals
The most advanced technology developed by Bobcat has been integrated in the E80, providing simple and easy maintenance with convenient check points. All this maximizes the work efficiency of the E80.
A large side cover allows easy access to the engine, pumps, radiators, filters and all the other components for daily maintenance and service.
The grease intervals for the workgroup pins are 250 hours thanks to the use of sintered metals.
Tiltable cab
The cab can be tilted in a few minutes without special tools to gain access to the main valve when service is required.

Smoother workgroup control and excellent hydraulic performance

The E80 offers top performance with a powerful breakout force and a high tech closed centre hydraulic system for improved simultaneous operating efficiency in the toughest applications.

Smoothness
The hydraulic system enables smooth operation while maintaining high productivity. This is done by maintaining a smooth acceleration at the start and deceleration at the end of the cylinder stroke while keeping the speed high in the middle of the stroke to achieve fast cycle times.
Higher traction and swing power
Thanks to the strong driving force provided by the high performance engine and the highest swing torque in its class, the E80 is capable of working well on slopes.
Electronically controlled engine with auto Idle system
The E80 is powered by the 40.7 kW Yanmar 4TNV98-ZWDB8 engine which is known for its durability and power. The result is excellent operation in high load conditions. The engine also has an electronic fuel injection system which continuously adjusts the amount of fuel injected to optimize fuel efficiency and reduce emissions and the engine noise to a minimum level.
In parallel with this system, the Auto Idle control reduces engine speed to low idle after a few seconds if none of the excavator controls are operated. As soon as the operator activates any control, the engine speed immediately returns to the throttle level it had previously. This system helps to save fuel considerably.

Unparalleled operator comfort

The use of an oversized cab means more space and comfort for the operator, allowing work for longer periods of time with less fatigue. This machine is equipped with high quality operator seat with many regulations to fit all sizes of operators.
The instrument panel allows a quick check of the machine condition without having to stop looking at the working area. The working area visibility is enhanced thanks to the pipe routing inside the boom width. To make working at night easier, the excavator has 3 halogen work lights, 2 on the boom and 1 on top of the cab.
The cab insulation, together with the latest technology engine and a dedicated muffler design, reduce the noise and vibrations in the operator area for increased operator comfort.

HVAC
A high flow and low noise Air Conditioning System is included as standard in the E80 excavator.  Temperature, power and flow direction are fully adjustable, and there are several outlet vents in the cab to get a uniform temperature.
Electric refueling pump
An electric refueling pump makes it possible to fill the fuel tank with minimum effort. By pressing a switch, the pump will start to fill the tank. The hose is conveniently located under the side cover, and includes a filter and a plug to keep the excavator clean once refilling has finished.

New safety features

Boom safety valve
The safety valve located in the boom prevents the boom from dropping in the event of a boom cylinder pipe rupture.
Overload warning device
An overload warning device is also included as standard. This device will alert the operator if the workgroup is overloaded.
